Everyone Harvests” Exhibition Opens

Singapore – The “Vertical Cities Asia International Design Competition: Everyone Harvests” Exhibition was officially opened this evening by Minister for National Development Mr Khaw Boon Wan at the URA Centre. Co-organized by the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) School of Design and Environment and Beijing Vantone Citylogic Investment Corporation, and co-sponsored by World Future Foundation, the exhibition showcases a series of innovative urban development approaches proposed by 10 universities that participated in the Vertical Cities Asia International Design Competition 2013.

Together with Professor Ho Teck Hua, Vice President (Research Strategy) and Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professor at NUS, Professor Heng Chye Kiang, Dean of NUS School of Design and Environment, and Dr Feng Lun, Chairman of World Future Foundation, Minister Khaw also went on a guided tour of the exhibition before writing down his reply on the guest message board in response to the topic: “What would you harvest from your neighborhood?”
The “Vertical Cities Asia International Design Competition: Everyone Harvests” Exhibition showcases new and positive approaches to address increased competition for land and water resources due to the incremental demand for food worldwide. By observing concepts such as ‘sustainable urban agriculture’ and ‘resource deployment optimisation’, the solutions proposed by students strived to provide creative solutions for sustainable production of safe and varied food supplies while effectively utilising resources.
The exhibition will be held from 6 to 26 July, 2014 at the Atrium, URA Centre. Members of the public are welcome to visit. Admittance is free.
