WFF Visits S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies
On 27 November 2014, WFF’s Managing Director Lu Bo paid a visit to Ambassador Ong Keng Yong who recently assumed leadership of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) as its Executive Deputy Chairman. With more than 30 years of experience in the Civil Service, Ambassador Ong has held several diplomatic posts in India, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and the United States including serving as Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia from 2011 to 2014. Ambassador Ong replaces outgoing head Ambassador Barry Desker who led RSiS for more than 14 years when it was still known as the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (IDSS).
During the meeting, Managing Director Lu Bo briefly introduced the Foundation and its work to date while Ambassador Ong elaborated on RSIS’s programs and future directions. This was supplemented by lively discussion on new initiatives presently being developed by the two organizations followed by an examination of present and future opportunities for colloboration between the two organizations.
Established in January 2007 as an autonomous school within the Nanyang Technological University, RSIS’ mission is to be a leading research and graduate teaching institution in strategic and international affairs in the Asia Pacific. It also offers a challenging graduate education in international affairs, taught by an international faculty of leading thinkers and practitioners.
